Shelters
Shelters
"It's not about starting over.
It's about remembering who you are when everything else falls away."
At Playing Camp, we run workshops on social skills, self-esteem and human reconnection at shelters, soup kitchens and homeless care centres, adapting to the complex realities of each person and the specific needs of each social resource.
From one-off 60-minute activation sessions to ongoing programmes lasting several months, each activity is designed to rebuild confidence, strengthen communication skills, reduce social isolation and restore a sense of identity and dignity.
Discover this transformative way of working towards social inclusion with a practical and humane methodology that restores the ability to connect, improves employability and rebuilds the social fabric broken by exclusion.

Our sessions for homeless people have been designed based on a deep understanding of the social barriers created by exclusion, combining validated methodologies: Positive Psychology, Theatre of the Oppressed, Non-Violent Communication and Social Art Therapy.
Each workshop offers training in basic social skills, self-esteem recovery, effective communication practice and trust-building through active listening exercises in pairs, presentation and non-verbal communication dynamics, role-plays of everyday social situations (job interviews, informal conversations, administrative procedures), and creative expression about personal identity beyond the situation of homelessness.
A session lasts between 60-90 minutes, the time needed to create a safe space, work on specific skills and close with integration, without causing fatigue in people with complex life situations.
We work with groups of 8-15 people, allowing for almost individualised attention and a dynamic where each person can feel seen and heard without pressure from a large group.
All you need is a closed, air-conditioned common space—an activity room at the shelter, a soup kitchen outside of meal times, or an NGO training room. The important thing is privacy, tranquillity, and basic comfort.
We bring all the materials: props for role-plays, art supplies for personal expression, music for group dynamics, and resources for working on social skills. No need for centre equipment, no additional costs.
It's like a social gym: a safe space to practise skills that isolation has rusted, where each person can try things out without judgement, where confidence in oneself and others is rebuilt.

After several years of bringing the game to businesses, we are committed to bringing these tools for human connection to those who need them most: people whom society has rendered invisible.
We have transformed the experience to make it completely respectful, accessible, and adapted to the specific barriers created by social exclusion.
We build trust with clear rules of respect and confidentiality. Participation is always voluntary, adapting to the emotional state of the group, and without judgement.
Our facilitators are trained to help lower the barriers (trauma, mistrust, shame) that people arrive with.
We work on specific skills to improve employability and social autonomy. We practise effective verbal and non-verbal communication, eye contact, how to start conversations, and assertiveness.
We do role-plays of job interviews and public procedures to recover skills eroded by isolation.
We work on self-esteem from a concrete perspective. We carry out activities to recognise strengths, creative identity exercises, and listening circles.
This is not empty motivation, but rather a reminder, with facts, that each person has value and abilities.
To combat social isolation, we create opportunities to build healthy bonds between participants, reduce loneliness, and generate a sense of belonging.
Many people tell us that it is the first time in years that they feel listened to and part of something.
Our facilitators adjust the emotional intensity, type of exercise and level of demand in real time according to the state of the group and each individual.
We always work with the utmost respect for the dignity of each participant, without infantilising, without paternalism, without trying to "save" anyone.
Each person participates from where they are, with what they can give that day, always respected in their limits and always valued in their contributions.
No one is left out: everyone has something to offer, even if life on the streets has made them forget it.
